Contact our Supervisor Dean Preston, at Dean.Preston@sfgov.org about:
DANGEROUS STREETS
If you’ve tried to cross Oak Street from one side to the other, you’re already aware that the crosswalks are often blocked by cars in the intersection, which forces pedestrians to go around the cars and close to oncoming cross traffic. This is not only outrageous, it’s downright dangerous! At the same time, if you venture over to Page, there’s no traffic at all. You might think that you wandered into some bucolic suburb. SFMTA should not be in the business of creating gentrification in the middle of one of the world’s great cities.
BIASED SFMTA POLLING
Certain groups are trying to push this through while people are distracted with real life issues, employment, how to homeschool their children, how to put food on the table and stay out of the clutches of COVID-19. SFMTA says that the people who responded to their survey were overwhelming in support of making this permanent change. They only interviewed the people who live on Page Street in order to bolster their fraudulent claims.
Now is the time to make your voice heard. Let our elected officials know, that for residents of Oak, the closure has been an unmitigated disaster.
Comments from City Leaders
SFFD Battalion Chief Edward L. Campbell (Ret.)
“My primary reason for opposing this designation is strictly from a public safety concern…”
SFFD Chief Robert L. Demmons (Ret.)
“They slow or stop traffic on those streets. But, they can also slow responses to emergencies by police cruisers, ambulances, and fire apparatus…“
YOUR OPINION MATTERS & YOUR EFFORTS WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Let the Board of Supervisors, members of which are also members of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, know how miserable life has become for us. With one letter or note you can have your say by emailing the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors. She will distribute whatever you send to all of the supervisors. Your letter can be just a note, such as: “Open Page Street,” or details about your child’s sleep being interrupted, or the pollution caused by too many vehicles and vehicle exhaust accumulating on your home and in your lungs.
Contact the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at Board.of.Supervisors@sfgov.org.
Turning Page St into a permanent suburb will be coming up for a vote soon! Don’t wait. Speak up now! Use the above contact information for Mayor Breed, the Board of Supervisors and the SFMTA Commissioners.
